He was accused of sexually assaulting a tourist in 2008 and his government was also investigated for signs of corruption by the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of British Members of the Parliament. He stepped down on March 23, 2009, a week earlier than anticipated, after an investigation found out that there were clear signals of corruptions in Turks and Caicos despite his denial. Misick was arrested on December 27, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after he fled from Turks and Caicos amid the allegations that he stole $180 million from the isle that he used to command.
Michael Eugene Misick (/mzk/; created 2 February 1966) was the chief minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 15 August 2003 to 9 August 2006 and was the first Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 9 August 2006 to 23 March 2009.
Misick is a part of the liberal Progressive National Party (PNP), and became chief minister when his party, after eight years as the opposition party, acquired two parliamentary seats in by-elections. Along with being prime minister, he was also the minister for Civil Aviation, Commerce and Development, Preparation, District Administration, Broadcasting Commission, Tourist Board, Turks and Caicos Investment Agency, and Tourism.
Various other members of Misick’s family have been politicians in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and important leaders in the PNP. Washington Misick, his brother, is a former Chief Minister and currently Minister of Finance, following elections in November 2012, where the PNP returned to power.

In April 2006, Premier Michael Misick wed American actress and fashion designer, LisaRaye McCoy; it is reported that the Misicks are divorced. A statement released on August 12, 2008 to the press by Premier Misick said: “I ‘m declaring that I’m separated from LisaRaye McCoy-Misick, I’m committed to breaking up the union amicably. In my opinion that this is really a private matter and will have no further comments. I really hope our privacy will be honored.” December 15, 2008 Misick was requested to step down by nine members of his party.
